As soon as An Yiqing’s eyes reddened, Gu Yelin sensed that something was off with her breath. Looking down, he was startled and a look of distress appeared on his handsome face.
"Tutu, why are you crying? What happened? Don’t be scared, don’t be scared, with Ah Lin here, don’t be scared." Gu Yelin, in a fluster, spoke while gently patting An Yiqing’s back like soothing a child, softly consoling her.
Seeing the man’s panicked and pained expression, An Yiqing’s heart softened even more, and her eyes grew redder.
She tightly hugged Gu Yelin’s slender waist, her hair a tangled mess in his arms.
"Ah Lin, why are you so good to me? I don’t want to leave your side, not even for a step," An Yiqing said without any embarrassment about crying and acting coquettishly in front of Gu Yelin. Outside, she could be cruel and face all sorts of dangers without batting an eye. But in front of this man, she was willing to become a spoiled little woman, to be pampered and loved by him.
Upon hearing An Yiqing’s silly words, Gu Yelin was momentarily stunned and then let out a helpless chuckle.
He had thought something serious had happened, but it turned out that his darling was simply moved.
Stretching out his hand to gently ruffle An Yiqing’s hair, Gu Yelin said in a low voice, "Tutu, I don’t have money right now, if I didn’t treat you well, I’d be sleeping on the streets."
His voice was deep and magnetic. Perhaps because he was not usually one to joke around, this seemingly humorous remark came across with utter seriousness.
An Yiqing couldn’t help but let out a ’pfft’ and laughed, her clear eyes brimming with happiness.
