"Ah? A private talk?" Ah Wu was startled. What is there to talk about?
An Yiqing knew full well what Huang Fen was thinking, and she turned to Ah Wu and said, "Ah Wu, you go out first."
Ah Wu, not understanding, scratched the back of his head and left the room with confusion.
In the bedroom, now only Huang Fen lying on the bed and An Yiqing sitting in a chair were left.
"Miss, thank you for saving me," Huang Fen said gently, her weathered face full of compassion as she looked at An Yiqing.
An Yiqing shook her head and said with a smile, "Director Huang, there’s no need for politeness. Saving people is a doctor’s duty. Besides, you’ve saved so many children. Good people should be rewarded."
With a gentle smile and wise eyes, Huang Fen sighed and began to speak slowly, "Good people be rewarded? I never thought about getting anything in return. Miss, I too am an orphan, but I was lucky, and my adoptive parents found and took me in. Though they didn’t treat me as their own, at the very least they provided for my education and gave me food to eat. Since adulthood, I’ve hoped one day I could save some abandoned infants. Over the past twenty years, I’ve experienced the vicissitudes of life; my adoptive parents abandoned me because of my choices. But fortunately, I still have these lovely children."
