The First Evolution

Chapter 576: A Marvelous Spear

The most obvious feature of the giant blood worm was its mouthpart.

It was made up of a ring of ring-shaped muscles. The mouth was densely covered with curved and interlaced fangs that were more than 8cm in length. The unique physiological structure allowed its mouth to open at an astonishing degree.

The 2 extremely small eyeballs were sunken deep under the skin. If it weren’t for the thick gray translucent film outside, it would be difficult to notice at a glance.

Not only were they huge in size and ferocious in appearance, but what was even more frightening was that is saliva contained neurotoxins. Once the prey was contaminated by its acid, it would be instantly paralyzed and lose its ability to resist.

Giant blood worms were large worm-like creatures that had no backbone. They were good at digging underground and looking for food in the soil.

They mostly feed on meat, huge meat, almost several times the size of a python. Even if the large yak could be killed, dismantled into pieces, and devoured.

When they couldn’t catch any large prey, they would also go to swamps to eat a certain type of insect called “bordeaux worm”.

This insect looked like a tadpole and was found everywhere in swamps. It was in huge numbers and was at the end of the food chain. You could think of it as a combination of the number of ants/the survivability of cockroaches/the size of the tadpole.

However, long-term eating of “bordeaux worms” could also lead to giant blood worm malnutrition and even reproductive problems. Therefore, as long as prey appeared, giant blood worms would most likely rush to hunt!
