Chapter 23: The Bachelor’s Grumbles
Bok Taejin ignored him and simply stared into the fire, letting its warmth seep into him.
Suddenly, the image of the giant turtle surfaced in his mind again and again, yet every time he tried to make out the patterns on its shell, his vision blurred.
By the time he finally gave up, Im Beomhyeon had already filled an entire bucket with fish, and two larger ones were now roasting over the fire.
Bok Taejin was astonished.
Im Beomhyeon grinned smugly. "Don't be fooled by how many big fish are in the lake—these guys are smart! If we're talking about the best fisherman in the village, that's definitely me. Anyone else would have taken much longer to catch this many. You're lucky today! If we hadn't skipped lunch, I wouldn't have bothered coming here."
As he spoke, he carefully turned the fish over, the rich aroma slowly filling the air.
Bok Taejin hadn't eaten much of the dried meat earlier.
He'd also done a lot of work and walked a long way, so the smell of roasting fish made his stomach growl uncontrollably.
He could only rub his belly and wait.
