Chapter 4: Entangled to Death
Gu Lili looked up, "It was my master's intention, why do you think I insisted on seeing you last night?"
Gu Xichen was infuriated, lashing out at her, "Why didn't you just tell me over the phone?!"
Gu Lili slowly stood up, facing him with a cold expression, "I called you numerous times but couldn't get through, so I went to the city to find you myself. It was already bad enough that you didn't show up for our meeting last night, but when I called to ask where you were and said I needed to see you about something important, you were too busy cooing with some woman to care about me. Now, what right do you have to be making a scene here?"
Gu Xichen pushed off the coffin lid and saw his mother's face. In that moment, he was painfully aware that from that point forward, he would have no mother. He laid his body over the coffin and began to sob uncontrollably.
After a while, he pushed the coffin lid completely off and bent down to embrace his mother.
Gu Lili stopped him quickly, "What are you doing?"
"What do you think? To take her back to the Gu Family and arrange the funeral."
"Who gave you permission to do that?" Gu Lili told him clearly, "Master left a will."
She played the recording on her phone for him.
