"Eh?" Yusuf Zuck and two boatmen brothers looked at the two dashing young masters, and those at the bow also turned to look at Yusuf Zuck, letting out a light gasp of surprise, sizing him up and down without stopping.
"Are you also a boatman?" One of the young masters raised his eyebrows and asked.
"Yes, yes, yes, this humble one is also a boatman," Yusuf Zuck nodded repeatedly.
"Interesting, a Divine King working as a boatman, just how poor are you, hahaha!" The two of them burst into laughter. There were plenty of Divine Kings in Eternal City who couldn’t make ends meet, so having one as a boatman, although unusual, seemed reasonable upon consideration.
They did not bother to ask why the Divine King had resorted to being a boatman; they simply scorned to do so. Why would they care to ask about the affairs of a mere boatman?
The two boarded the boat and then began arranging the facilities inside, taking out various food and drinks.
The boat outing today included a poetry contest, so things like writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones were also prepared by these two.
Yusuf Zuck went to the stern and sat down quietly to wait.
A few moments later, three or four more people arrived, among them a woman. The group chatted and laughed as they walked, continuing to laugh incessantly in the cabin after they boarded, with Yusuf Zuck even overhearing a handsome man telling a risqué joke that had the woman giggling gleefully.
These were all offspring of prestigious families, rich or noble young masters and misses, leading lives of extraordinary opulence and perhaps also lacking in propriety.
People continued to arrive, and the number of women wasn’t small either; by the time it was fully daylight and the mist on the water had cleared, there were upwards of forty people, with seventeen or eighteen being women.
