A day later, Yusuf Zuck stopped as Rafael Case made a fuss for him to do so, but they were already not far from the canyon by then.
"Let’s descend, let’s descend," Rafael Case chuckled.
"If you have something in mind, just spill it. What’s going on?" Yusuf Zuck glared at him and said, "We are already quite close to that canyon, we must not be careless."
"Exactly because we can’t be careless, that’s why I told you to descend. Trust me." Rafael Case grabbed Yusuf Zuck and landed on the ground.
Once on the ground, Rafael Case suddenly tore several slits in his robe, untied his hair bun to let his white hair fall loose, and then he started rolling on the ground!
The ground was covered in ash, and he smeared it all over his face while rolling around.
Yusuf Zuck watched, dumbfounded.
"What are you spacing out for? Hurry up, make yourself look more wretched. It has to be convincing, but don’t overdo it. We need to create the illusion that we’ve just emerged from underground and encountered a life-threatening danger!"
"Oh, right, right!" Yusuf Zuck felt it made perfect sense. Rafael Case may not be good at other things, but acting was his life-long profession; he always looked dirty and was despised by others, yet he was clever in his own way, surviving by his wits.
Yusuf Zuck also made a few small tears in his clothes and got a bit dirty, but he did not make his face grimy; he just smeared a bit of ash on it appropriately.
