Chapter 473 - 472: Headquarters Based in Los Angeles
In Luciano and Alfredo Meskill’s minds, encountering pirates during their voyage would have been ideal. They could kill pirates and rob them.
Unfortunately, they did not come across any pirates; instead, they encountered a carrier battle group, and even saw a huge nuclear-powered submarine surface before them, only to dive back into the sea, silently and stealthily, which was quite frightening.
Alfredo Meskill asked Yusuf Zuck if it was possible to take down a submarine, and Zuck replied that it was, but after taking down the submarine, they would probably not live more than a month before being crushed into dust by the mighty power of the United States.
"Besides, what use do we have for a submarine? The maintenance costs alone are not something we can afford, right?" Yusuf Zuck laughed heartily, appreciating Alfredo Meskill’s bold yet astute character.
On the other hand, Luciano was cold in demeanor, keeping everyone at arm’s length. Although he and Alfredo Meskill got along with the sailors, no one tried to cozy up to Luciano, as his somber expression was truly frightening.
After sailing for more than ten days and as they were about to reach the waters near San Francisco, the hovercraft was lowered from the cargo ship, and the three of them, Zuck included, jumped down with their bags.
Captain Wu, Manager Liu, and the first mate, along with the crew, waved goodbye to them. They had enjoyed their company over the last ten days, and Yusuf Zuck occasionally bribed them with pearls, making the sailors reluctant to see the trio leave.
Even more so, a young man, around twenty, wanted to leave with the three of them to go try his luck and make a fortune in San Francisco.
However, this young man was slapped back by his own uncle.
The sailors’ wages weren’t bad, actually; each month they could make upwards of ten thousand, some even two to three times that amount. Since this route wasn’t dangerous, the money was easy to earn. Saving up for a few years would be more than enough to get married.
