Chapter 337: Land of the Eccentrics
Yusuf Zuck glanced at the time and found that it was just past two in the morning. As he was considering whether to go back to consult with Everest Zuck, the rustling sound came from the nearby woods again. Suddenly, a dark figure seemed to run to the mountain top by stepping on the tree branches from the treetops.
Yusuf was greatly startled by this person’s agility; his light-body kung fu was far superior to that of Tripp Greer. He had perfectly stepped on the tips of the trees and leaped in succession to get here. At the same time, the figure noticed Yusuf and was now standing not far from him.
Yusuf was extremely nervous. Although he was somewhat skilled, he knew he was no match for a Martial Arts Grandmaster or a top expert at the second level of internal boxing, at least not in a head-on confrontation.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" The person appeared to be around sixty years old, with gray at his temples. He wasn’t dressed in ancient attire but in the kind of practice clothes one would see worn by the elderly practicing in the park.
"I was just about to cross over," Yusuf blurted out quickly, pointing at the chains on top of the cliff.
"You wish to cross? Who are your parents? Which sect did you learn from? You haven’t even been initiated, and you want to go over? Call out your parents. Humph, have they forgotten the rules?" The person snorted coldly, looking extremely indignant.
Yusuf then realized that to cross those chains, one must at least be at the entry-level of cultivation.
"I belong to no sect," Yusuf said, narrowing his eyes. "I just happened to pass by here, saw someone crossing over the chains, so out of curiosity, I wanted to try for myself!"
"You don’t belong to a sect? You..." The man’s tone halted, suddenly realizing that this young man without cultivation level must be a hiker who came to the mountains. The fact that someone had crossed the chains piqued this man’s curiosity to investigate!
"Since a stranger has found out, there’s no blaming me now!" A murderous intent flashed in the man’s eyes. They had chosen to enter at night precisely to avoid being detected by ordinary people, but now their location was compromised.
