Herman Holloway didn’t like Yusuf Zuck, and Yusuf Zuck didn’t like Herman Holloway either, for he could see the disdain in Herman Holloway’s eyes, a symptom of someone who is a social climber.

At six forty-five in the morning, he arrived at the New Century lobby, then sat down quietly to wait.
