Chapter 220: Her First Love
When Yusuf Zuck came out from Everest Zuck’s house, he made another call to Jade Cooke. Jade had been discharged from the hospital, but since they had often chatted during their time there, becoming friends, it was perfectly normal for him to make a call and check in!
"Delaney Valencia wants to invite you for dinner tonight, see if you have any time," Jade Cooke didn’t ask anything else over the phone, just mentioned that Anna Cooke wanted to invite him for dinner.
"I can’t do tonight, I have to head out; going to Hubei," Yusuf Zuck said "Hubei" instead of "Hunan" in order to keep his whereabouts secret.
"Oh, then let’s wait until you get back," Jade Cooke said with a laugh.
"Sure, once I’m back I’ll come over and visit you," Yusuf said and then hung up the phone. He then drove toward the Ruiz Family district, needing to inform Miles O’brien, as he might not return for three to five days. Therefore, if Leila Brown’s ashes arrived in the next couple of days, it would require Miles O’Brien to pick them up. Even if she didn’t go herself, she needed to let Samuel Ross and the others know to do it.
As for Marlon Shepherd, Yusuf wasn’t planning on visiting him before the investigation report came out. Everything would wait until after he saw the results of the investigation, which would also take several days anyway.
"He’s looking for you, it must be for no good reason. I just know when he’s being overly attentive, it’s never for something good!" Having finished speaking with Miles O’brien in the store, she expressed her reluctance. She had issues with Everest Zuck because he had never said a nice word about her, and now here he was, taking Yusuf Zuck to Hunan for business. Although Yusuf didn’t specify what it was, she was sure it was nothing good.
"I’ve already agreed to it, and besides, with arranging the cemetery and the funeral, I need his help to manage things," Yusuf said with an embarrassed expression, quoting the old saying that women and vile characters are difficult to raise. Everest had uttered some nonsense previously, and that made her harbor resentment.
"Hmm, just be careful, I can’t control you, but you better not get into trouble," Miles’ eyes reddened, she didn’t concern herself with what Yusuf did outside, but she genuinely cared for him.
Yusuf hugged her: "Don’t worry, nothing will happen. Just take care of the home."
