Chapter 128: A Life Saver

The forest erupted into chaos as the Dawnless unleashed their full might. Fire and lightning roared from their dragon-enhanced bodies, clashing with the Flameheart soldiers’ red and blue flames. The red flames scorched but couldn’t pierce the Dawnless’ thick scales, while the blue flames, freezing in their eerie chill, struggled to immobilize them for long. Yet the Flameheart army was disciplined, their numbers pressing the advantage in a relentless tide.

Ralph, Mirta, the 49th Sword, and ten sword units broke off, weaving through the forest to strike the enemy’s rear. Mirta glanced at Ralph, confusion flickering in her eyes. ’Why is he coming? Isn’t he like the weakest?’ If he were a 6th star, she would’ve understood, but he wasn’t.

They landed in the heart of the enemy ranks, facing the operation’s leader—a towering figure with one red eye and one blue, his armor gleaming with rune-etched flames. "How dare you invade our kingdom and cause havoc?" he bellowed. "If you surrender the experiments, we may let you live."

Ralph’s eyes narrowed, returning the question. "How dare you kidnap from other lands? You must be truly fearless."

The leader of operations looked at Ralph. Among all the strong people around, why was it the weakest that was speaking? But he shrugged it off and pushed again, "I’m offering a chance. Leave the experiments, and we can negotiate."

Ralph’s mind raced. ’I left Wick with them, so nothing is happening there, but his tone...’

"They don’t plan to let us go," Mirta’s voice cut through their mental link, her mist coiling around her.

"I thought so," Ralph replied silently. "Another army’s likely waiting outside."

"And if we refuse?" he asked aloud, gripping Moonfang.

"Is that even a question?" The leader smirked. "You’ll all die here."

Despite his confidence, caution flickered in his eyes. There were two seventh-stars, Mirta and the 49th Sword, who loomed behind Ralph.
