Chapter 19 -19-Upgrading Ghosts – Infernal Envoy
"Revenge? Tell me, who killed you? And why do you seek revenge?"
Owen glanced at them and asked slowly.
Though his voice was not loud, it carried an unquestionable authority. Mia and Ethan immediately lowered their heads, not even daring to look Owen in the eye.
As the older brother, Ethan was slightly braver. Gritting his teeth, he answered truthfully:
"The Supreme and Mighty God, my sister and I used to live in Lucas Village, leading a peaceful and harmonious life. But one day, Joseph, the son of Ryan, the tycoon who controls the mines of Black Iron, went hunting in the mountains and saw me. He... developed lustful desires toward me and my sister."
"He wanted to take me as his boy-toy and my sister as his concubine."
"When we refused, he tried to force himself upon us. I took my sister and ran for our lives, thinking that we would be safe once we returned home."
"But we never expected him to track us down with his men. Our parents, trying to cover for us, were brutally murdered. My sister and I were shot by his arrows and, in our desperate escape, fell into a pond and sank into the mud. In the end, we perished full of hatred and resentment."
"We became ghosts and originally intended to seek revenge on Joseph. But he is protected by a Sacred Vestige, and as newly formed ghosts, we were powerless against him."
"I hate it! Even in death, we cannot avenge our parents, my sister, or myself!"
By the end, Ethan's emotions ran high, his spectral form trembling with rage.
