The Lucky Farmgirl

Chapter 294 - 283: I Have a Buff

"Aren’t there wolves in the mountains, as you guys said?"

Zhou SiLang feigned confusion, "Yes, there are wolves in the mountains, but not necessarily in every mountain. The trees over there aren’t very dense. Wolves probably don’t like going there. There are quite a few bees though, just be careful not to bump into any beehives, or getting stung will be miserable."

Ms. Fang didn’t join in the excitement and stood at the doorway watching them, one big and one small, walk away until they were out of sight, then she went back to the kitchen to work.

Today was her turn to make dinner.

When Zhou SiLang and Manbao reached the foot of the mountains, silence surrounded them. Other than the songs of birds and the hum of insects, there wasn’t a soul in sight.

Of course, there was no one around. It was almost time for dinner, after all. At this hour, people were either busy in the fields or at home waiting to eat. Who would have nothing better to do than run up to the mountain?

It’s not like it was winter and there was a need to gather firewood.

Manbao looked around; all she saw were trees, so she asked, "Silang, where did you guys search before?"

"The other side, near Dali Village," Zhou SiLang snorted. "The Jia family brothers are too crude. They basically chop down pines in one area and just kept going from their side toward this one. That’s why all the pine stumps are on their side."

"Thankfully they only make charcoal at the end of autumn. Otherwise, if they burned it all year round, how many trees in these mountains would be enough for them?" Zhou SiLang asked her, "Where do you think we should start looking?"

"Here," Manbao pointed to the forest ahead. "Since there are no stumps here, and the trees are thick, I bet you and Fifth Brother haven’t searched here."
