Book 8: Chapter 62: Rearguard
“Go quickly!” Kelly roared, light flashing on her back. Giant Battle Qi Wings spread out behind her like a peacock’s fan as she charged toward the lead knight among the three Death Knights.
A cold light flashed in the Death Knight’s eyes. He pulled the reins, and the Nightmare beneath him moved according to his will. It broke away from the main group, leaped onto the stone wall on the right side of the valley, and ran along the wall in an arc to attack Kelly’s flank. The hellfire beneath the Nightmare’s hooves left a long trail of flames on the stone wall.
“Clang!” Kelly’s small, fingerless-gloved fist collided with the giant Horse-Cutting Saber, producing a metallic clang. The Death Knight shuddered all over, and the Nightmare beneath him reared up and neighed, forced to retreat several steps. Loose stones clattered down from the wall.
The Death Knight abruptly raised his head. Behind the iron mask, his eyes flickered with a surprised cold gleam. He froze in place for a moment, seemingly starting to seriously examine the petite woman before him.
“My name is Ilter Farran, living one, state your name!” The Death Knight raised his Horse-Cutting Saber high, pointing it at the levitating Female Martial Artist before him.
“I don’t discuss life with a rotting corpse, die!” Kelly stole a glance at the battlefield, and her heart sank. Her willow-like eyebrows arched as she charged at the Death Knight again.
“Clang… Crack!” The Death Knight almost lost his grip on the Horse-Cutting Saber. He was shocked to see a crack in the dark steel blade, forged and tempered by hellfire. A fragment of steel shot off and struck his helmet’s iron surface, creating a series of pinging sounds like rain hitting plantain leaves.
“An opportunity!” Kelly’s eyes flashed. Her Battle Qi Wings beat once, and she flipped in the air like a hawk. Her right leg descended like a battle axe, directly smashing the rigid Death Knight and his horse off the stone wall. They crashed heavily at the bottom of the valley, crushing a group of skeletons in the process.
