Book 7: Chapter 34: Arissa
“What? Dalzollene is dead, Neon is missing… Useless, all of you are useless!” Light’s face twisted in rage as he yelled at Kurapika and Melody in the room.
The guard captain was dead, only two guards remained, and his daughter was kidnapped… The head of the Nostrade Family truly did not expect to receive so much bad news right after arriving in Yorknew City.
No wonder he was so furious. Anyone who spent a large sum of money hiring guards, only to have the guards’ reckless actions endanger the very person they were supposed to protect, would feel uncontrollable anger.
Kurapika and Melody exchanged bitter smiles. They had no fondness for this mafia boss who rose to power relying on his daughter’s divinations. Their original purpose for joining the guard team was merely to obtain an official identity to attend the auction.
However, even with the excuse that something happened to Ivanov and the others, the fact remained that they chased after the Phantom Troupe without authorization, leaving no one to protect Neon. Dalzollene and the others had already given their lives. Since the two of them were still alive, they naturally had to endure Light’s verbal abuse.
“Boss, I will definitely find Miss Neon. But first, please calm down. Do you have any of Miss Neon’s personal belongings with you?” Kurapika bowed calmly and asked.
“This is Miss Neon’s favorite scarf.” Light Nostrade swallowed his anger, glanced around Neon’s room, picked up a silk handkerchief from the bed, and handed it to Kurapika. But his tone was very stiff; he simply could not trust the two remaining guards anymore.
Kurapika took out a prepared map of Yorknew City from his pocket and spread it on the table. He then wiped the chain on his right ring finger with Neon’s scarf, letting the steel ball at the end of the chain hang naturally, aiming it at the city map below.
This chain was one of Kurapika’s Nen Abilities, called the Dowsing Chain. It could be used for tracking and also for interrogating prisoners.
