Book 7: Chapter 29: The Deal
“Qin Lun, you’re back!” Dalzollene looked at Qin Lun, who had just pushed the door open, with surprise. “Did you drive back the Troupe?”
“No, we lost!” Qin Lun sighed and brushed the dust off his clothes. “The Mafia’s direct force, the Shadow Beasts, were completely wiped out. If I hadn’t only been responsible for long-range sniper support, I probably wouldn’t have escaped either.”
“The Shadow Beasts were completely wiped out…” A look of fear appeared in Dalzollene’s eyes. Having lost the fighting power of the Shadow Beasts, this normally steady captain of the Nostrade Family’s guard finally began to regret joining the pursuit of the Phantom Troupe.
“Don’t worry, the Ten Dons have prepared a backup plan. They’ve sent requests to several of the world’s major assassination organizations. Another, much stronger assassination team will arrive tomorrow or the day after to take over the Shadow Beasts’ work.” Qin Lun smiled, trying to cheer up Dalzollene.
“Oh!” Hearing this, Dalzollene indeed let out a huge sigh of relief.
This Auction was, after all, a grand event organized by major criminal syndicates worldwide. Even if they didn’t care about the auction items, for the sake of saving face, they would not compromise with the Phantom Troupe.
Furthermore, the underworld organizations possessed immense wealth. Although they couldn’t recruit top-tier experts as subordinates, there were still some powerful bounty hunters and assassins willing to accept temporary jobs.
“By the way, where is that Troupe member being held now?” Qin Lun’s eyes flashed as he asked with concern.
“Oh, he was injected with anesthetic gas and is currently locked in the basement!” Dalzollene said worriedly. “He won’t say anything, and his body is very strong. Our interrogation methods aren’t very effective.”
