Vol. 15 - Ch. 19 - The Summoner of the Gods
Returning back to a few days after Halt punched the Evil God –
In the Divine Realm—
“Oh? It’s rare to see you here, Sea God.”
The Sky God, who controls the world’s skies and weather, spoke to the Sea God, who had appeared in the realm of the gods. Usually, the Sea God stayed in his temple deep in the human world’s oceans, so visiting the Divine Realm wasn’t something he did often.
“Yeah. I had something I wanted to check with you all.”
“Something to check?”
“It’s about our summoner.”
“Our summoner…? Oh, wait, don’t tell me…”
The Sky God seemed to have an idea of what was going on.
“My summoner got fixed to Halt. Don’t tell me… the same thing happened to you?”
“So it’s the same for you too, huh?”
From the Sea God’s reaction, the Sky God understood everything.
Normally, gods aren’t supposed to be summoned by mortals. But there’s a rare skill, Divine Summoning, that only a select few with true talent can possess. If someone has this skill, they can summon a god once in their lifetime.
The god that can be summoned is determined when the person acquires the skill, and it cannot be changed, no matter what. However, if the skill is activated, unless an opponent also has Divine Summoning, the battle is practically over—the summoner automatically wins.
Gods are on a whole different level than Spirit Kings.
Even if the Apotheosis Gods – those mortals who became deities after their death – were summoned, a single Spirit King alone wouldn’t stand a chance. Maybe multiple Spirit Kings could win, but throughout history, only a handful of people have ever been able to summon multiple Spirit Kings.
A skill that allows someone to summon a god is already incredibly powerful. And if someone had the ability to summon one of the Four Great Gods, they’d basically hold the fate of the world in their hands.
And yet—
A man appeared who could summon both the god of the sea and the god of the sky.
Halt.
By using the infinite magic he obtained from the Evil God’s curse, Halt Ernol forcibly summoned the Sea God and the Sky God. As a result, they officially recognized him as someone qualified to summon gods and granted him the Sea God Summoning and Sky God Summoning skills.
That said, Halt’s status is fixed, meaning he can’t gain any new skills. So while his status itself didn’t change, what did change was the fact that he became their summoner.
As long as Halt is alive and hasn’t used his Divine Summoning skill, no one else—aside from the Creator God—can summon those gods.
Incidentally, a few years later, Anna vi Silveray would gain the power to summon all Four Great Gods. However, since Halt had already become the summoner of the Sea God and Sky God, she could only obtain the Evil God Summoning skill.
Naturally, the Earth God, who wasn’t present at the moment, had also been claimed by Halt.
“Wait a sec. Divine Summoning is supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime skill, right?”
“That’s what I thought.”
“Then Halt already summoned us once, didn’t he?”
“If you’re talking about the Evil God’s defeat celebration the other day, then yeah. We were definitely summoned by Halt.”
“Then why is Halt still our summoner?”
Gods don’t have status boards, but they can sense their own state. And right now, they could feel that Halt was still their summoner, which didn’t make any sense.
At that moment—
“Well, isn’t this fine? It’s better than having some power-hungry fool become our summoner.”
A voice suddenly spoke up.
The Creator God had appeared.
“Old man, you were listening?”
“Creator God, just to confirm…”
The Sky God didn’t even need to finish his question.
“My summoner is also Halt.”
“W-What?”
