Chapter 738. Overslept again and again
Mauve overslept the next night and woke up to Jael’s side of the bed empty. She could tell she had overslept immediately. She pushed herself to a sitting position with a grumpy look on her face as she thought about how Jael never learned.
She threw her legs over the bed and grumpily made her way to the corner of the room to summon servants. Mauve pulled, realizing as soon as her hand touched the string that she might have exerted more strength than she needed, but it was too late to control that now, as she had been irritated by the fact that Jael didn’t wake her up. What she didn’t expect was for the string to rip.
Mauve gasped, taking a step back, shocked at what she had done. There was no way she had just ripped that out of the wall. She looked closely and saw that the string had just cut; it was probably loose before she pulled so hard on it.
She picked the part that had fallen to the ground and walked back to the bed. She hoped it was something that could easily be replaced. Thankfully, it was Mill who answered her summon. Mauve almost jumped into her arms when she saw Mill, but all she did was hand the end of the string to her.
"What’s this?" Mill asked as she accepted it mid-greeting.
Mauve pointed to the wall. "I ripped it."
Mill’s jaw almost hit the ground. "How?" she asked.
"I think it was already loose," Mauve muttered. "Can it be fixed?" She didn’t want to dwell on the terrible mistake she made.
"Of course, I’ll ask someone to do that. Don’t worry about it. It will be fixed before you’re done with your first meal or before the end of the night."
