Chapter 622. Intrusion And Plans
Aside from the shocked looks Jael received when they stepped into the dining hall and Louis’ earlier remarks, nothing else was mentioned about the lip stains on Jael’s cheeks. Mauve couldn’t believe he would actually walk around looking like that; it was ridiculous.
Louis had an expression that said he couldn’t believe Jael’s stupidity. The only person bothered among Jael’s personal guards was Erick, but instead of Jael, Erick shot her looks.
Mauve did her best not to be distressed by the stares. This wasn’t her idea, and she would not let others’ reactions bother her when the person with red marks on his face seemed completely unperturbed. It also didn’t help that he would occasionally glance in her direction with a goofy look on his face.
Just as the first meal was about to end, a guard burst through the doors, causing Jael’s expression to turn sour and every eye turned toward the figure standing by the door.
"Pardon my intrusion, my Lords. There has been an incident."
Jael picked up a napkin and wiped the corner of his lips. He dropped the napkin on the table and turned to Mauve. "Louis will keep you company," he said.
She nodded, glancing at Louis who gave a simple nod before continuing his meal. Jael was already on his feet, walking toward the guard who stood by the doors with his head bent.
"He didn’t even wait to hear my reply," Louis said as Jael walked out the door.
Almost immediately, Damon and Danag stood up. They bowed to no one in particular before going after Jael. Erick remained at the table, but with the urgency at which he ate his meal, Mauve knew he wouldn’t stay for too long.
However, Erick was not the only one. Soon enough, the dining hall was empty, leaving just her and Louis, the only ones who were still eating their first meal at a normal pace.
"What do you think happened?" Mauve asked Louis, who looked unconcerned by the whole ordeal while she couldn’t stop looking at the door.
