Chapter 617. More Clingy
Mauve tried to eat, but she could feel the tense air in the dining hall, and it wasn’t even between Jael and Louis. Louis seemed unbothered by what had transpired in the library, and Jael was paying him no mind. She hoped the incident wouldn’t add more rifts to their relationship.
Nonetheless, it was the behavior of the other Lords that bothered Mauve. Something was very wrong. No wonder Jael had acted a bit weird earlier. She wondered if they tried to hunt Palers and then something happened.
It was hard to place what the issue was, but it was obvious it bothered them all. Corbin looked in her direction and then looked away. She frowned; it was hard to guess what was going on in the vampire’s mind.
Since the incident, he had mostly left her alone. He would glance at her every now and then, but nothing that bothered her. However, recently, since she fell ill, she couldn’t help but think his stares were becoming even more frequent.
She pushed the thought away and concentrated on her meal. She let out a yawn and frowned. How could she be yawning while eating?
She did know that she felt a bit tired, but it was as if the more she ate, the more tired she got. She would most likely get some sleep as soon as she was done with the meal. She didn’t miss the look Louis shot her, and she frowned about asking what was wrong, but Jael drew her attention.
"Are you tired?" He asked.
She nodded, "I think I would just go to sleep immediately after the second meal."
"That’s a good idea," he looked especially pleased about this.
Mauve could only smile. He truly didn’t like that she was spending all that time with Louis. She almost wished he wasn’t so busy; she knew he would want to spend more time with her.
She wondered if she could stay with him while they were training. She figured this was a bad idea, but she wanted to see it, and maybe this might make Jael less grumpy. She was sure he trusted her, but he wanted her all to himself, and she wasn’t complaining.
