Chapter 449. I Can Take It.
Mauve curled on the bed with Jael. She rested her head on his chest as he fiddled with her hair. Neither of them said a word as she tried to listen to his heartbeat.
She was dressed in her nightdress while all he had on was a pair of pants and no shirt. Typical. The cover sheets were pulled up all the way to her legs.
She was pretty much ready to sleep now but she found that she wasn’t sleepy. Today has been eventful and draining.
She was sure it must have been even worse for Jael. He didn’t see him until it was almost time for the last meal.
The last meal went without incident and she did see Kieran. He loved the same as usual. She had barely gotten a chance to speak to him but it was understandable considering everything that was going on.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked.
She lifted her head slightly to look at him and saw that he was looking down at her. Mauve adjusted so she was lying on her front.
She rested her hands on his bare chest, using them to prop her head up so she could see his face more easily.
"About how stressful your day must have been."
"You have no idea," he said and for a second his mask fell off. "But don’t worry about it. I had it all sorted out."
She frowned, "I heard about the young vampire."
