The Vampire King's Possession

Chapter 397. Uncertainties

"I am the reason you saw the letter," Danag blurted out.

Mauve frowned, "What do you mean?"

"Your father’s letter. I am the reason you saw it. I placed it between the pile of letters with hopes that you might see it by chance. Jael had asked that every letter we receive from the human king be tossed out."

Mauve gaze darkened, she already knew this but to actually hear a confirmation of it, hurt more than she had thought it would.

She couldn’t help the sad look that crept into her eyes. "You have my thanks. I am very grateful."

"No," Danag said, shaking his head. "You shouldn’t be."

"I should be, if it wasn’t for the letter I would have never known my father wanted me to come to Greenham and I probably would have never found out."

Danag rolled his shoulders. "It might seem like a kind gesture but I didn’t do it with your best interest at heart."

Mauve blinked, "That’s an act of kindness and I am grateful that you told me I could easily leave the Vampire Regions. I would have believed Jael and thought I was stuck there."

She shook her head as she remembered it. Why did she want to go back? It was terrible there. Yes, there were some good parts but the cons were more evident.

"I was hoping it would turn out like this. I knew the subject about you returning here would piss Jael off and he would likely react in the manner in which he did. I was hoping for that outcome."
