Chapter 393. Malcolm Confronts The King
"Promise," Malcolm responded without hesitation. "Let me speak to Father. I am sure this is just one huge misunderstanding, and we can come to an agreement."
Even as Malcolm said those words, he still had difficulty keeping up with what was happening. However, he didn’t find it hard to believe one bit.
This was the person who didn’t think twice about marrying Mauve off to a vampire—the reason they have to live in terror for as long as he can remember.
Nevertheless, he could understand why she shouldn’t return to the Vampire Regions, but this was his Father they were talking around, and he wasn’t stopping her from leaving for her own good.
He wanted to ask several questions about why she wanted to return, but he could see that now was not the time.
She was still very shaken by what their Father had said to her, and right now, he just wanted to comfort her as best as he could.
He was never really there when she needed him. She had been married off without a second thought, and no one had considered why that was a bad idea.
Looking at her all curled up on the bed with tears in her eyes made him want to give her a big hug and tell her everything was going to be alright, but he knew it would be more awkward than anything else. They didn’t have that kind of relationship.
"If you say so," she said, her smile looked forced.
"I leave you to it. Try to get some rest."
Mauve scoffed, "I have been stuck for a while now. I assure you that’s all I have done."
