Chapter 381. Jael’s Thoughts
Jael got to the front of the castle. A little slower than he intended, he was out of breath, and the pain in his stomach worsened. Whatever Louis did was getting worse by the minute.
He would need to take blood; this idea wasn’t appealing to him, but his body had gotten more damage than he could ignore.
"Are you okay?" Louis asked as he climbed the stairs leading to the door.
"No," Jael responded without hesitation.
"Too bad," Louis replied with a shrug. "All this could have been avoided if you had just been less stubborn."
"I wouldn’t have any problems if you didn’t meddle..." Jael frowned as the doors were thrown open. Of course, Danag was behind the door. However, he wasn’t alone.
"Sire," Danag called out in horror.
"What the bloody hell?" Erick’s voice echoed in the doorway. "Were you attacked by a wild animal?"
"Yes, unfortunately, the creature came out of nowhere," Jael said and walked past them.
He could only imagine just how terrible he looked. His face looked awful; he was soaking wet, and worst of all, he was seen in this state.
Louis snickered, turning the guards’ attention to himself. It wasn’t until he saw their expressions that he remembered he was also in bad shape. His injuries mainly had healed, but the blood was still all over his face and neck.
