The Vampire King's Possession

Chapter 309. Let Me See Yours

Jael felt his blood ring in his ears and forced himself to calm down so he could listen to Mill. It was better to get the whole details before bursting out the door.

At least that’s what he told himself, his actions were saying otherwise as he moved from the corner of his desk and took a step in Mill’s direction.

"Nothing," she cried out. "Well, according to Mauve and I did question Corbin."

Jael’s shoulders fell and his face showed confusion, "But?" He asked, his gaze unwavering from Mill.

"She was crying when I returned, I only left her for three minutes. She wanted to see the garden and after I took her to the rooftop, I left her briefly to go bring a light. Corbin was standing in front of her when I returned but he didn’t look like he did anything but since then she has been a bit down and less expressive. She didn’t talk much about the incident and acted as though she had forgotten it. Also, you thanked me earlier but I couldn’t even do my job right, I don’t deserve your thanks. I am really sorry, I made sure she was safe after then and I never left her alone."

Jael blinked, unsure how to respond to Mill’s outburst but the clearest thought in his mind was that she didn’t tell him about this and Mill hadn’t mentioned it, It probably would have never reached his ears, just like everything else about her.

"Are you certain he didn’t harm her in any way?" He asked, briefly closing his eyes as he tried to get his emotions in check.

"I am, I checked her body for marks, and questioned her several times but I got nothing out of her."

"I see," Jael said as turned away. "And Corbin?"

"I dealt with the situation right away and told him never to so much as come close to her and if he ever broke the rules, he would be sent out of the house immediately. He didn’t believe me at first but I scared him enough that I know he won’t do anything funny at least not while I have my eyes on her and I haven’t left her alone since."

Danag walked around and picked up the fallen chair, he carefully raised it and stood behind Jael.
