Chapter 173. Set It Ablaze
Mauve watched Jael go with a disappointed look on her face. She could not shake off the feeling that he couldn’t wait to leave her. There was also the fact that he didn’t eat. She couldn’t think of anything that could bother him enough to not eat but it’s not like he would tell her if she asked.
She leaned against the headboard and sighed loudly. She looked toward the tray, less than a quarter of its content was eaten. Mill would not be pleased.
Mauve sighed again, she suddenly felt very tired. After all that, it was expected that her body would feel weak. Her shoulders felt numb and heavy. She wondered how long it would take to heal up.
She hoped it wouldn’t take too long as she couldn’t wait to go back home and being stuck in this room almost all day was starting to drive her nuts.
She carefully slipped under the sheets, mindful of her injured arm. She placed her head on the pillow and closed her eyes. Her soft knock caused her eyes to fly open.
Mauve half expected the door to be thrown open after that knock but she got nothing. She carefully lifted herself from the bed and poked her head out, peeking at the closed door as if she was expecting to see behind it.
"Come in," she said and the door pushed open.
Mill stood with the door open as her eyes did a quick scan. "Sire isn’t here?" She asked.
Mauve slowly shook her head and started to lie back. "He left a while back. If you’re looking for him, I think he is with Lord Kieran."
Mill closed the door and walked closer to the bed. "There is no need for me to..." Her words trailed and a look of horror appeared on her face when she noticed the tray.
"It’s almost untouched." She said looking from the tray to Mauve.
