The Vampire King's Possession

Chapter 161. Nothing Could Beat

Jael frowned at her, "I don’t think that’s advisable, Mauve. You’re still badly injured."

"I know," she said with color on her cheeks. "But I have taken all my herbs for today and I am just supposed to sleep."

There was no way she was going to be alone all day. Mill was sleeping and the physician was not good company. Besides, she was sure nothing could beat lying in Jael’s arms all day.

"Still, it would be best if the physician was with you so he will attend to you immediately if something is wrong." He said staring at her.

Mauve blinked under his gaze. His tone didn’t leave any room for argument. "Would you come to see me?" She asked and looked away from him.

"Of course," he said and ruffled her hair.

She grinned and nodded. "Okay but let me stay here for a couple of minutes. I don’t have to leave immediately, right?"

Jael peered at her face. "I guess not." He said and adjusted so he had his back to the headboard once again and she was comfortable on his legs.

"Doesn’t my weight bother you? Surely, it must be uncomfortable to carry me in your legs for this long." She asked and played with his shirt.

"Are you mocking me?" He asked sternly.

She shook her head, "No, I am not." She giggled, she shouldn’t be this happy. It didn’t make any sense. "You should get some sleep," she said, peeking up at him.
