Chapter 115. Horseshit
Mauve rubbed her hands together, it was completely covered in dirt and some had gotten onto her dress. She swung her hands trying to get some more off but failing woefully.
She made a mental note not to do this while wearing a bright-colored dress. She couldn’t comprehend how she didn’t think to change but she had been too excited and had gotten to work immediately.
She groaned, how was she going to get anywhere without rubbing dirt on everything she touched?
She picked up the watering kettle and poured some water onto her hand. It was hard to wash the dirt off one hand at a time but the result was so much better than walking around with dirt all over her hands.
She held her hand to the light to look at her injury after washing. Maybe messing around with dirt with an injured hand was not a good idea but she was certain the wound was mostly closed enough.
It no longer hurt and the reason she tied it up was that Mill would not let her do otherwise. She pouted as she stared at her hand, Mill would not be pleased with the mess. She should have controlled herself a little.
She picked up the watering kettle and the lamp. The moonlight was bright but it wasn’t nearly enough for her poor eyes. She was grateful someone had thought to leave her this.
She held the watering kettle in one hand and the lamp in another. She got to the closed door and swore when she had to drop one of them. She chose the watering kettle.
She turned the handle but the door wouldn’t budge. She tried again, it made no difference. Annoyed, she dropped the lamp and tried with both hands, it gave way easily.
