Chapter 110. Midnight Lunch With Lords
Mauve gripped her dress tighter as the guards threw the doors open. She tried not to let the fright show on her face but there were more people than she had expected at the dining hall. Neither Mill nor Jael had thought to warn her about this.
She assumed Lord Garth would be the only unfamiliar vampire at the table but there were two other unfamiliar vampires. The vampires consisted of two males and a female.
The female vampire sat close to one of the male vampires while the other vampire sat about two seats away. The vampires sitting together looked like a couple.
They made her think of Lord Alaric and Lady Marceline. They weren’t at the table and Mauve found that she was actually disappointed about this. She wondered if they had left already.
Mauve took a step forward, another one. The closer she got to the table, the more her footsteps slowed. Mauve did it know where she was expected to sit. Her usual seat was taken.
Her eyes darted around and she was certain her discomfort was apparent for all to see. Her grip on her dress was so tight that if it was any tighter she would draw blood.
"Mauve," Danag called to her as she got close enough. He raised his hand in addition to calling her name and gestured for her to come towards him.
The relief she felt was instantaneous, she hopped to his side which was opposite the guest vampires. Danag was sitting further down the table, past Lady Jevera, and Lord Erick.
She had never gone this far before but she didn’t care, sitting next to a familiar vampire was certainly better than anything else.
