Chapter 88. No Longer Needed
Jevera adjusted her hair before she stretched out her hand to knock on Jael’s study. She pulled down her dress a little and adjusted her bodice as she waited for a response.
"Come in," he said abruptly.
Jevera rolled her eyes. She was going out of her way to help him, the least he could do was pretend he was grateful. However, she knew that would never happen.
She opened the door and the smile on her vanished, her nose was instantly filled with the smell of the human. She had gotten a faint smell while she stood outside but she assumed it was because she had passed in front of the human’s door.
She looked ahead and the source of the vile smell that bothered her nostrils lay on Jael’s legs. Compared to his huge frame she was much smaller and it looked as if he was carrying a child. It took everything to not let her feelings show on her face.
Jevera walked forward with a blank expression, more like he hoped she had a blank expression, she did not want to anger Jael or let the human see how discomforting the scene before her was. She had no pride before Jael and was willing to do whatever he wanted but not in front of a random human.
"Jael," she softly called as she walked forward. Her smile felt forced but it was better than nothing.
He did not respond nor did he lift his eyes from the desk. She was expecting this.
"I have finished the task. Is there anything else you want me to do?" She stopped in front of his desk. She kept her eyes glued to him, completely ignoring the human.
