The Vampire King's Possession

Chapter 81. He Won’t Be Joining Us

Mauve slowly rose to her feet, she shook her dress shaking off whatever may have gotten onto it as laid on the floor. She walked further into the library as her eyes scanned the books.

She did not want to read but unfortunately, there was nothing else for her to do and she would rather do this than sit in bed all night making assumptions as her imagination was bound to get out of hand.

She groaned, she couldn’t wait for the garden to be ready. The fact that she couldn’t go outside was starting to get to her. Standing in the sun again was something she was thrilled about.

Mauve stopped in her tracks as her eyes settled on a book. The cover was captivating. She was walking towards it before she even decided whether she wanted to read it or not.

She pulled out the book and stared at it. The workmanship was intricate. All the books in the library had great covers but she could see the fine details on this particular cover and even though she had no clue about this sort of thing she could immediately tell it was well done.

She flipped the book, her hands were killing her a little. Despite how small the book looked it had quite the weight. There was nothing on the back too except the designs.

She frowned and turned the book to the front. She flipped it open and her look of confusion changed to a blank expression. Words she did not understand or had a clue about stared back at her.

Mauve was not surprised, it would have been more surprising if she had opened it and could immediately understand its contents. As usual, there was no name. Well, if there was, she probably wouldn’t be able to read it.

She returned the book and picked the book underneath it.

She checked to make sure it was something she wanted to read and skipped out of the library. She got to her room in no time, shutting the door and sliding into bed.

She laid on her back and opened the first page. Mauve sighed loudly and tried to take out joy in what she was about to do but she was extremely tired of just reading. If she could engage in any other activity, she was certain she would be thrilled again.
