I heard something strange, a sound I couldn't quite place. "Huh?" I mumbled to myself, looking around, trying to figure out where it came from. It didn't sound familiar, and it felt… off, like it didn't belong.
I quickly tuned into my senses, trying to get a better idea of what it was. Was it a rat scurrying around? Or worse, could it be the kidnappers sneaking around?
I scanned the kidnappers with my spy tentacle, but everything seemed normal. The kidnappers were still huddled in their corner, their voices just a mess of muffled words. So, it wasn't them… What the hell was it?
'Could it be a rat? Or just the wind?' I thought, feeling a bit confused. But there wasn't any wind, and it didn't sound like a mouse either. What the hell was going on?
I glanced at Puriel, eyebrow raised. "Did you hear that?" I asked, curious if she noticed it too.
Before she could answer, though, another sound answered my question.
