Double-Blind: A Modern LITRPG

Chapter 331

"Thoughts?" Miles asked.

We'd carpooled to the tower, and everyone had spread out. Julius was still outside making a call, while Charlotte, Nick, and Kinsley chatted quietly in the corner. I'd lost track of Sae, but she was almost certainly somewhere in the milling crowd of Users and tower employees attempting to LARP.

"On the team?" I clarified.

"Uh-huh."

"Does it matter what I think?"

Miles tilted his head from side-to-side, as if it didn't, really. "Mythological swords aside, it's your brother's ass we're trying to pull out of the fire. If that's not enough, part of my evaluation is making sure you have a reasonable head on your shoulders. Generally best to at least have a grasp of a person's judgment before you leave them with a suitcase nuke."

"So what, an analysis?"

"Let's start with that."

I looked over to where Nick, despite the proximity to the meal we'd literally just had, was tearing into a turkey leg, its bottom half covered in foil. "Nick will carry this whole expedition on his back if he has to. Effort and willpower isn't a problem there. When we tried to push the tower before, he wanted to keep going even when we were completely outmatched and every engagement left him a bloody mess. Not that he's stupid. He knows when to pull back, retreat. He just doesn't know when to quit."
