Chapter 152: Amitabha Wins the Battle
Wukong saw those two thousand eight hundred Buddhas forming a grand formation with Tathagata and Maitreya, a formation known as the Great Buddha Formation, immensely formidable. He then saw Buddha’s Light spreading across the sky, reciting sutras as Sanskrit characters drifted out, transforming into mountainous peaks, pressing down towards Wukong.
Wukong said, "You all retreat; I’ll handle this."
Two hundred Buddhas pressed their palms together and said, "We follow the Dharma’s command."
Wukong no longer suppressed his own realm, suddenly feeling as profound as the sea, unfathomably deep, as if he were a massive black hole with no visible bottom, inscrutable. The aura of the Heavenly Dao Laws descended upon him, and naturally, Tathagata, who had comprehended the Heavenly Dao Laws, could sense it.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible! Have you actually attained sainthood?" Tathagata exclaimed in shock.
Without responding, Wukong waved his hand, and the Heavenly Dao Laws began to operate. Suddenly, thunder and lightning appeared out of the void, these being what exists above the Nine Heavens: be it called Purple Twilight Divine Thunder, Five Elements Divine Thunder, or Chaotic Heavenly Thunder... A sea of thunder fell, and all the Sanskrit characters were obliterated into dust.
"Amitabha Buddha! Heaven has the virtue of creating life; why must the Victorious Fighting Buddha act so?" Amitabha Buddha descended from Mount Sumeru to the battlefield and with a wave of his hand, dispersed the thunderclouds.
"Our Buddha is merciful!" the Buddhas said, their palms pressed together.
Seeing Amitabha Buddha, Wukong did not speak but scrutinized him carefully.
Amitabha Buddha smiled and said, "Victorious Fighting Buddha, why do you look at me so?"
Wukong smiled and said, "Amitabha Buddha is the founder of the Buddhist Sect. Now that I’ve seen through the void, naturally I want to look a bit longer."
