Chapter 123 Disappearance (5)_1
An icy chill enveloped Zhuge Feng’s entire body. Although the lake water only reached his ankles, it was bone-chillingly cold. Each step felt as though he were treading on ice, making it exceptionally difficult to endure.
"Shangguan You, wait for me!" Zhuge Feng called out, struggling step by step toward Shangguan You. He reached out his large hand. He had to grab her; he would not allow her to be swept away. From the moment he first saw her, Zhuge Feng would not permit anything to happen to Shangguan You.
"Idiot!" Shangguan You cursed aloud. He doesn’t run from danger but jumps down to be with me. I really didn’t expect Zhuge Feng to be such an idiot, a fool. An even bigger fool than me!
"You must hold on; I will definitely rescue you! Last time you saved me, so this time it’s my turn to save you," Zhuge Feng said with a light laugh, enduring the knife-like pain in his feet. His baby face showed unusual determination, and as the distance between them closed, the pain he suffered grew even more intense.
"I get it; you’ll get to play the hero," Shangguan You said with a light laugh, her own Spiritual Energy growing weaker. She wouldn’t last much longer. Her feet were already completely caught in the vortex.
Her hands were tightly bound by the lake water, and with every movement, a wave of piercing cold invaded her body. Suddenly, she was embraced by a pair of broad hands.
That idiot Zhuge Feng had tightly hugged her to his chest, preventing her from being further swept into the vortex. The cold sensation vanished, replaced by the warmth of his embrace.
"I’ve finally caught you."
A trace of relief flashed across Zhuge Feng’s baby face. His arms wrapped even more tightly around Shangguan You, resisting the lake’s pull little by little.
"Idiot, doesn’t it hurt?" Shangguan You scolded softly. She could clearly see the trail of blood in the water from his journey toward her; his feet had to be horrifically torn and bleeding. Yet, despite such intense pain, he endured it and still held her tightly.
"It doesn’t hurt," Zhuge Feng replied with a gentle smile, laughter shining in his dark eyes. He didn’t know why he had come down, nor did he understand why the sight of her entangled filled him with such heartache, but he was willing to stay with her. In the darkness, she was the ray of light that illuminated his heart, bringing him warmth—a warmth he didn’t want to lose. So he was willing to stay with her.
The moment Zhuge Feng embraced Shangguan You, columns of water wrapped around him as well, binding their bodies tightly together. A powerful suction force swept over them, pulling their embraced figures bit by bit into the vortex.
