Chapter 20: The Deer-Like Man_1
"I was just talking. You really mustn’t cry. A big man like you, and you can’t even take this little injury? You’re really useless." Shangguan You’s small face twitched sharply. "BOO HOO HOO..." Before she could finish her sentence, large tears began rolling down from Zhuge Feng’s moist eyes, becoming more and more plentiful. A grown man was crying his eyes out in the bathroom. What was this all about?
Fortunately, their home had good sound insulation; otherwise, Zhang Ma would have been scared to death. A flock of crows flew over her forehead.
"Oh dear, does it hurt that much? I’ll be gentle. Don’t cry; I’ll make you better and won’t let you suffer again." Her tender voice reached Zhuge Feng’s ears. "BOO HOO HOO... They’re all bad people! No one cares about me! No one gives a damn about me! BOO HOO HOO..." Zhuge Feng cried even more wretchedly, his entire naked body flinging itself into Shangguan You’s arms. He had grown so large, yet no one had ever treated him so tenderly. It was she who had saved him from the brink of despair and gently helped him bathe. He lived a life of constant pursuit and assassination attempts. To survive, to live better, the people around him had, step by step, taught him cruelty and how to kill. No one had ever treated him with such gentleness.
The gentler Shangguan You’s voice became, the more heartbreakingly Zhuge Feng cried.
"From now on, I’ll cherish you. You’ll be mine to protect. I’ll never let anyone bully you again. Be good, don’t cry." While patting his smooth skin, Shangguan You spoke softly to comfort him. Seeing this helpless, crying man before her was like seeing a reflection of her past self—that sorrowful half-month. Her heart softened even more, and she couldn’t bear to push the man in her arms away.
After a long while, Zhuge Feng finally stopped crying. His moist eyes rested quietly on Shangguan You, allowing her to tend to his body as she pleased.
"Hold on for a moment. I need to remove the bullet from your arm first, or your hand will be useless. But I’ve never done this before. Maybe we should get you to a hospital," Shangguan You said, holding a small knife and looking at the bullet embedded in his flesh, clearly hesitant.
"No need. I trust you," came his soft, sweet voice. Sweat dripped from his forehead, drop by drop.
"Bear with me. Here I go." Shangguan You bit her lip, placed the prepared antiseptic medicine beside her, ready to apply it as soon as the bullet was out. She had no idea how effective this medicine would be.
