Chapter 94: Forgotten Siren of the Deep (2)
The Siren took its time with grotesque satisfaction, devouring its prey in slow, methodical bites. Each participant, still entranced, stood motionless—offering their bodies with upturned heads and euphoric expressions etched across their faces.
There was no resistance, no screams. Only silence, punctuated by the sickening crunch of bone and the wet slosh of flesh torn apart.
The Siren seemed delighted, releasing ecstatic, high-pitched giggles with every mouthful. It tilted its head, swaying with childlike glee, like a little girl savoring sweets at a banquet.
It gnawed on arms like candy sticks, chewed through torsos like delicate pastries, and tapped its jagged teeth together in anticipation before each bite.
Finally, when only mangled limbs and crimson-smeared armor remained floating in the dark water, the Siren leaned back.
It patted its distended, grotesquely bloated belly with a smug grin, its dozens of eyes blinking in sync. Satisfaction oozed from its every movement.
Then—just as it began to sink back into the water’s embrace, ready to vanish once more into the lake’s black heart—
SWOOSH
A brilliant arc of silver light slashed through the air, so swift and precise that it nearly cleaved the Siren’s head from its body.
The blade passed mere centimeters from its neck, humming with force. In the path of the strike, the water froze solid—an entire segment of the lake crystallizing in an instant. The sound of ice cracking and expanding echoed like thunder.
Startled, the Siren snapped its head toward the direction of the attack.
