Chapter 63 - 62. I’m Not God (3)
The Winter Solstice ball was a kind of a festival where every person of North celebrated their identity as Northerners, being protected by the family of Montaire it seemed like a fairy tale like affair.
The Frosthail castle as well as the towns and markets were decorated with the theme of the snowy landscape and the beautiful snowflakes making one think that maybe they were transported inside a beautiful snow globe.
The slate gray sky paired with the white landscape and the establishments studded on the ground made me feel as if I was watching over a model town. I was sitting atop the bell tower that was made to notify the entire territory of the danger during the times of the emergencies.
The ball was tonight and it was almost evening, I wasn’t at the castle for obvious reasons and also because I couldn’t help but shake off the anxiety that I was feeling.
The nobles who were a thorn in my side regarding Davian’s issue were no longer an issue since I had shown them the consequences of their choices.
The two orders that I had given them were that they would stay loyal to Davian and support his position under any circumstances. And the second was that if they tried to sell out the dignity and secrets of North then I would flay them alive.
Their basic concern was being loyal to Davian unconditionally but with their lives on line they would do it and I was sure that soon they would find themselves being genuinely loyal to him since he was the kind of person who would make people rely on him and trust him.
Now, with all that past me I was sitting on the stony edge with the huge bell behind me and the cloudy sky closer to me than the earth.
I breathed out the smoke watching far and wide.
"Hey, Goddess of Wisdom weren’t you going to explain me some stuff?" I asked but there was no response.
It had been the same since the time that I rescued the elves and dwarves. My Patrons were silent as if they had deserted their positions and even this new entity wasn’t any good.
