Chapter 40 - 39. A Mage And A Knight (2)
We reached at the inn before evening and on our way we ended up encountering yet another band of rogue shifters which Lyall and I took care of.
I could use the intermediate spells of Dragon’s Magic but it still wasn’t enough if I had to gain an upperhand in future against the other species.
I took a bath in my original body and sat at the window looking at the freezing mountains that guarded the Kingdom of Sestia from the Shapeshifters’ land. The white snowcapped mountains seemed familiar from the mountain range I had seen in my past life. Still treading through them and attacking the human side was quite a life-threatening and foolish thing to do.
I had decided to come to North as a wandering Mage in order to train in the wilderness and also have a look at the situation over here myself.
The informants wouldn’t be able to send any messages since once the Winter begins the Gate and the doors to the North territory, Frosthail are closed. It was to prevent the rogue shifters who come down the mountain to escape the snow and lack of food from creating a havoc into the kingdom.
Hence, the total isolation of the Frosthail from the rest of the Kingdom. It would last for four months and Davian might just be in a great pinch since he had just become the Grand Duke and he still had enemies in the midst of worrying about his missing parents.
"Poor guy." I mumbled feeling my breath step out as smoke.
I wasn’t feeling cold, my body had been changing a lot compared to the normal aspect, I was a Frost Mage and a Dragon’s successor after all.
But there were normal people here making a living and they needed protection from a good leader. I was hoping that Davian would become that leader for them.
[Defender of Divine Glory asks you to get dressed warmly.]
"I’m not cold." I told him.
