Chapter 150: Phantom Hills
"A car? What’s that?" Growing even more curious, Louis approached the car, parting his mouth in shock when he saw how large and impressive it was. He hadn’t had the chance to learn about the outside world, thanks to his wicked foster mother.
While he knew a lot about the outside world, the term "CAR" had never reached his ears. Could it be a mysterious device? When he didn’t receive a reply from the guard, he looked up at him with innocent eyes.
"Are you kidding? Who doesn’t know what a car is?" The guard asked, glaring down at Louis, assuming he was teasing him. To him, even a four-year-old knew what a car was. They had car toys, and even if Louis had never played with them, he should still know what a car was.
"I don’t," he replied bluntly, earning a growl from the guard, causing him to inch backward. Louis had asked an innocent question, so why was the guard getting worked up?
"It’s fine if you don’t want to tell me," Louis said, and the guard walked away, irritated by the boy.
"Wow, you really are determined to follow me," Dave remarked, coming out of the mansion with a black bag. He was now properly dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, paired with black sneakers.
"You look good," Louis couldn’t help but compliment him, and Dave smiled.
"And you look... Never mind, it’s nothing a few bucks can’t take care of." Opening the car boot, he dropped the black bag in it, earning a surprised look from Louis.
"How did you do that?" Amazed, Louis asked.
"Do what?" Lost, Dave asked, wondering what he meant.
"That thing, opening it?" Not knowing what to call it, Louis pointed at the car boot and asked, emphasizing his question.
