Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night

Chapter 147: A roller-coaster?

"By brother, you are talking about the Alpha, right?" Louis sought clarification from Enoch about whether he was referring to the Alpha.

"Of course, stupid. Who else would I refer to?" Enoch retorted.

"First, I am not stupid. Second, he is also your brother, you could as well do the honor," Louis corrected, eliciting a mocking laugh from Enoch.

"What the hell is making you laugh?" Dave didn’t appreciate Louis’s disrespect, considering the boy had been undermining him since his arrival. Was he being too lenient, allowing a youngster to show such disrespect? The beta, Enoch, worsened matters by laughing at the mockery.

Enoch knew he had wounded Dave’s ego, and it pleased him to see Dave affected.

"Listen, kiddo, you might be my brother’s favorite, but that doesn’t make you mine. Try to disrespect me again, and I will show you just how dangerous I can be," he warned, leaving Louis feeling intimidated for the first time. Though not as powerful as Damien, Louis exuded an aura that could make someone shiver, and he wasn’t going to overlook it.

Annoyed, Dave left the dining room, his appetite gone. Louis contemplated going after him but was halted by Damien, who said, "Just let him be, he will get over it."

Louis hesitated but chose to follow Damien’s advice, staying seated. He didn’t mean to be so rude, it was a survival mechanism in the world of witches. One had to be smart in order to live there, it wasn’t all smiles and roses there.

Dave, however, was too carefree for Louis’s comfort. Most witches ignored him, considering him useless because of his age. Having someone treat him like an old friend felt strange and uncomfortable. Louis sighed, feeling helpless, and resolved to apologize to Dave later.

Just as Damien was about to search for Aurora, she descended the stairs, looking graceful in casual wear. Despite the simplicity of her crop top and jeans, she was incredibly alluring to Damien. Her scent was different, a hint of rose replacing her usual soap.

As Aurora approached the table, an awkward silence filled the dining room. Damien, seated in the middle, right to her left, mentioned, "I was going to come get you."
