Chapter 135: Hidden side
"I almost killed him!!!" Scarlet kept on repeating those words until she got to a cliff, halting to take in deep breaths. She left the inn feeling anxious, running profusely, not caring if she fell in the process.
Her mate was lying helplessly on the bed and she was the cause of it. Her wolf hurt, her whole body ached and she wished to run away from the world. Just when they were about to begin a new life together, fate was going to snatch him away from her.
If Enoch should die, she has no reason left to live and was going to kill herself. Falling to the ground, she let the tears flow out and kept on crying until she fell asleep.
Waking up, it was getting close to sunset and she scolded herself for falling asleep. She needed to go back to the inn and tend to Enoch.
She ran back to the inn and gently went into Enoch’s room, not wanting to alarm Aurora or Damien of her arrival. Entering his room, the window was left open and Enoch was lying on the bed. He looked peaceful and calm, and she wished to see him like that every day.
She doesn’t recall seeing him take a good nap since they knew each other. As the beta of the pack, he had more work to do than the Alpha himself. He ran mostly minor errands, and made sure to pass and deliver information when needed.
He carried so much weight on his shoulder, and she was just realizing how hard it must have been for him. Taking off her shoes, she tossed them aside and lay beside him in the bed.
Moving closer to him, she touched his face, tracing his teddy with her tiny hand. His hair was soft and they felt warm in her hands. She almost forgot the feeling of his hair and body ...No, what was she thinking?
She had to focus, what was she doing busy harassing a sick patient’s body?
Shutting off her mind from the bad thoughts, she laid on her back and soon fell asleep.
Scarlet woke up to the chirping sounds of the birds outside the window. Looking around her surroundings, she abruptly sat up when she saw Enoch. Right, he was still unconscious.
