Chapter 90: Annoyed Dave
Directing his gaze at her, Dave instinctively sighed in relief upon contact with her gaze. When she shifted her gaze towards his, he quickly averted it, his heart almost threatening to come out of his chest.
"Miss Charlotte, I thought you were over your childish days back when you frequented the mansion?" Suddenly, one of the Elders spoke up, facing Charlotte with a stern look.
"Right, I was...." Speaking up, she tried to explain herself but was cut off by the same Elder, not ready to listen to her excuse.
"Although you came as the future Luna’s escortee, you are well familiar with this pack’s rules and regulations, do we have to teach you again because you are a guest?" The Elder cornered her, rendering her speechless.
She frowned, wondering why the Elder was so annoying for making a mistake she was used to making back then. She knew how strict they were when it came to respecting the Alpha and their pack, but she didn’t come late for breakfast intentionally. She had woken up late and had to pick up her boyfriend’s call thereby leading to her being late.
Dave felt suffocated for an unknown reason seeing how Charlotte was at a disadvantage. In their pack, once the Alpha was seated in the dining room, no one else had the right to sit unless the Alpha said so. In most cases, if the Alpha hadn’t started eating, she wouldn’t have been considered late. But they were halfway through their meals so he could understand what the Elder was complaining about.
Charlotte looked at the Elder and sighed in defeat. Deciding not to give any excuse, she stated, "It wasn’t intentional nor childish," and then she moved closer to take her seat.
"You can’t sit until the Alpha says so, please leave the dining room." Just when she was about to sit, the Elder stopped her from doing so, causing everyone to direct their attention to the scene.
Though it was an offensive act, the Alpha wasn’t offended so he had no right to decide if she sat or not. Why was he so bent on scolding her for coming in late?
