Chapter 86: Everything is all about him
"Don’t you agree with me, huh?" The man’s question jolted her out of her thoughts.
She stuttered, "Yes, I... do," her response carried a hint of hesitation, she wasn’t entirely satisfied with his point. If there was one thing she had given up on, it was the idea of love. How could she genuinely affirm her accord with him?
"Thank you for lending an ear. Derrick’s the name," he introduced himself, offering his hand for a shake, which she reciprocated with a friendly smile.
"I am Aurora. Pleasure’s mine," she replied, both of them exchanging smiles.
"Did you come here with friends? You don’t look like someone who attends this sort of event, " he remarked, his gaze curious as it settled upon her.
"Um, I arrived with my brother," she lied. She had arrived with Damien, her Alpha, but labeling him a friend due to their contractual relationship felt unreasonable. Furthermore, establishing familiarity with Damien wouldn’t help her well.
"Wait a moment, I think I recognize you. Weren’t you on the stage..." he began, before Aurora swiftly cut him off, knowing he was about to mention seeing her with Damien.
"That wasn’t me. I came with my brother!" Her tone was curt, enough to startle Derrick, leaving him to wonder if there was something she was hiding.
"I understand," he replied with an eyebrow raised, a hint of suspicion lingering as he averted his gaze.
