Chapter 204: Amusing nicknames
Tang Can looked up, startled by He Jiahao’s request. She hesitated for a moment, but then, seeing the hopeful look in He Xui Cai’s eyes and the softened expression on his father’s face, she nodded. "Of course, Father," she said, gently passing Jaehyun to him.
He Jiahao took the baby in his arms, his stern expression melting as he gazed at his grandson. Jaehyun blinked up at him, his tiny hand curling around He Jiahao’s finger. A small smile tugged at the corners of He Jiahao’s lips, a rare sight that softened the atmosphere around them.
"He’s a strong little boy," He Jiahao murmured, his voice filled with unexpected warmth. "Just like his name and he does look like your mother."
Tang Can watched with a mix of relief and happiness as He Jiahao gently rocked Jaehyun, the tension that had gripped her easing away. This moment, she realized, was a turning point for their family. Despite the awkwardness and the underlying tensions, there was hope that they could come together for the sake of the newest member of their family.
As the evening continued, the atmosphere grew lighter, with more laughter and conversations filling the room. Everyone had finally relaxed, the earlier awkwardness fading into the background as everyone focused on celebrating Jaehyun’s arrival.
Later, as the night wound down and the last of the guests began to leave, Tang Can found herself standing beside He Xui Cai, watching He Jiahao as he quietly said goodbye to Jaehyun. "Thank you," she whispered to He Xui Cai, her voice soft but full of emotion. "For standing by me."
He Xui Cai smiled down at her, his arm slipping around her waist "My dad doesn’t mean any harm, so don’t let his words get to you."
Tang Can leaned into him, feeling a sense of peace she hadn’t felt in a long time. Whatever challenges lay ahead, she knew that with He Xui Cai by her side, they could be able face them.
