Feng Shiyan’s declaration hung in the air, but the expected capitulation didn’t come. Instead, a tense silence filled the room, broken only by the sound of shuffling papers and muffled whispers.
Liu Wei, the outspoken board member who had first challenged Feng Shiyan, cleared his throat. "Mr. Feng, while we appreciate your... explanation, the fact remains that your brother’s sudden passing has left a significant leadership vacuum."
Feng Shiyan’s eyes narrowed. "A vacuum that my sister-in-law and I are more than capable of filling."
"With all due respect," Wu Yungmin interjected, "capability and legal right are two different matters. We need to consider what’s best for the company’s future."
Feng Shiyan felt his temper rising. "And you believe that undermining the very family that built this empire is what’s best?"
Another board member, Cao Jin, leaned forward. "Mr. Feng, we’re not undermining anyone. We’re simply concerned about stability. Your brother was the face of this company. His loss will have repercussions in the market. We need strong, visible leadership."
"Leadership that you conveniently believe should come from outside the Feng family?" Feng Shiyan retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Liu Wei spoke up again, his tone measured but firm. "We’re merely suggesting that perhaps it’s time for a change. Fresh perspectives could benefit Feng Corporation greatly in these... uncertain times."
Feng Shiyan slammed his hand on the table, causing several board members to flinch. "Let me remind you all that my brother trusted my sister-in-law and i with his shares for a reason. We have the controlling interest, and we have no intention of relinquishing it."
"Legal challenges can be made," Liu Wei said quietly, but with unmistakable threat in his voice. "Shareholder interests must be protected."
The room erupted into a series of voices, each board member trying to assert their position. Feng Shiyan stood, his imposing figure silencing the room momentarily.
