Chapter 27: THE BREAKING POINT
Kaito stood amidst the churning shadows, his heart racing, pulse pounding like a war drum in his chest.
The Warden's presence loomed like a shadow cast over the very fabric of his soul, and the suffocating weight of the Abyss seemed to crush the air from his lungs.
The dark energy surrounding them pressed in from all sides, pushing against Kaito's will, threatening to break him down.
The Warden's laughter echoed in the dark space, cold and cruel, as though Kaito's defiance was nothing more than a fleeting nuisance.
"You still don't understand, do you?"
The Warden's voice was calm, almost pitying, as if he were addressing a child. His red eyes glowed with malicious amusement, flickering with the light of a thousand broken souls.
"You cannot escape me. I have always been here. I am the void that fills the spaces between the stars. The hunger that gnaws at the edge of your mind. The weight that pulls you under. You cannot fight me, Kaito. You never could."
Kaito clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms.
The golden light that had burned within him now flickered weakly, its brilliance dimming under the suffocating darkness. Every part of his body screamed in agony, the shadows lashing out, wrapping around his limbs, pulling him toward the ever-growing void.
