Chapter 9: THE ECHOES OF FATE
The oppressive stillness of the Void lingered, as if time itself had frozen in place.
Kaito's breath, still ragged from his battle, echoed in the emptiness. The remnants of the shadowed figure had dissolved into the fabric of the Void, but its presence, its words, remained etched in his mind.
"Embrace it." The figure's voice haunted him, reverberating in the deepest corners of his soul.
Kaito clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. He had fought back against the darkness, but the battle wasn't truly over. It was only just beginning.
A surge of energy pulsed from the Shard of Eternity in his grasp, a force that both comforted and unsettled him.
The glowing crystal now felt heavier, as though it were alive, as though it were calling out to him—beckoning him toward something greater, something terrifying.
"Is it really over?" Kaito whispered to himself. "Or is this just the beginning?"
He took a cautious step forward, the Void stretching out before him like an endless abyss. The ground beneath his feet shifted, and the darkness swirled, reshaping itself.
For a moment, Kaito thought he saw flickers of light in the distance—images, fleeting and distorted. Voices, too, whispered faintly through the air.
But they weren't just the voices of the Void. They were familiar.
He paused, listening carefully. The whispers grew louder, clearer.
