Though they would clash and seek to destroy each other, there was always an underlying tension between them. In other words, they were enemies, bound in a cycle of loving and killing each other.
Upon confirming that his human side was ‘deceased’ and could no longer sustain itself, his vampire form would instinctively take over to ensure the normal operations of his body.
As long as his vampire side was not completely extinguished, he was, in the truest sense of the word, immortal.
Yet, despite his imperishable body, the pain of his human body being ripped apart and the icy grip of death as his nerves screamed their last were excruciatingly real and inescapable.
